Canalicchio di Sopra

Canalicchio di Sopra is the story of a winery that retraces the history of viticulture in Montalcino over the last 60 years.
We have been an active part of the development of Montalcino's quality since 1962, leaders of a splendid and generous land that we have helped make famous.
From the intuition, entrepreneurship and courage of the founder, Primo Pacenti, to the tenacious pursuit of quality and the meticulous vineyard work of his son-in-law Pier Luigi Ripaccioli, who began working side by side with Primo in 1987, a common thread runs through the qualitative development of our company.
Since 2001, the third generation of Canalicchio di Sopra, represented by Francesco, Marco and Simonetta, has respectfully continued its work, combining tradition and innovation, love and respect for the territory on which the production of classic wines is based.
For over 50 years we have made the “pursuit of elegance” our mission. Elegance is the essence of our production philosophy, of the Crus where we have farmed our vineyards for over half a century, of the microclimate that tempers our grapes and of the production choices we make in the cellar.
To make wine with passion, respecting the territory and valorising Sangiovese to the utmost through our Crus, to make it unique and unmistakable: this is how we have produced wine at Canalicchio di Sopra since 1962!
