Belisario

The Belisario company was born in 1971. Today it is a farm of 300 ha under vine and a winery with a capacity of 30,000 hl. It is the largest producer of Verdicchio di Matelica DOC. All the vineyards are close to the winery, at a maximum distance of 10 minutes, and all are hosted in the Upper Esino Valley. It directly farms the vineyards and each label has its dedicated vineyard. Contributing to production are an oenologist, a viticulturist responsible for cultivation, four vineyard technicians, four cellar masters, in addition to marketing management with an Italy office, a foreign office, secretariat and administration, and over thirty collaborators for the work in the vineyards and cellar. Each wine is a well-defined project that starts from the planting of the vineyard; then the selection of grapes and musts serves to achieve the aim of realising the maximum total quality — that is, to satisfy the needs and expectations of those who buy our wines. The harvest moment is defined with the ripening curves for each label, the vinifications are temperature-controlled and customised for each label, the wines' maturations are differentiated in steel and wood, the packaging is cold-sterile, and the bottle ageing is hosted in a hygro-aero-thermo-conditioned room.

Since 2002 the company has had an ISO 9001:2000 certified quality system; it is also certified for the vinification of organically grown grapes, with about 34 ha of organic vineyards.

The Upper Esino Valley is the difference in the taste of our wines: the climate is continental in its temperature ranges and Mediterranean (43rd parallel) in its sunshine. This microclimate determines a great accumulation of aromas, the full preservation of the acidic heritage, a physiologically limited production and a full, complete, sometimes extreme ripening. Our Verdicchio wines are typical because the system is unrepeatable and irreproducible: this is the value, the pride and the greatest responsibility — to be a style, not a fashion.
