Zisola lies in south-eastern Sicily near Noto, a jewel of the Baroque: a land rich in history and charm, protected by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. In a magnificent natural setting adorned with olive, citrus and almond trees, the Zisola vineyards find their perfect home: all trained as bush vines (alberello), with a density of 5,500 plants per hectare. Nero d'Avola predominates, accompanied by Syrah, Petit Verdot, Grillo and Catarratto. The climate is Mediterranean island, with mild winters and hot, dry summers, tempered only by the cooler currents brought by the nearby Ionian Sea. The soil is rich in limestone and stony skeleton, ideal for giving the wines complexity, finesse and a dense, elegant texture. In 2023 the estate obtained organic certification: Zisola's vineyards, citrus and almond groves have always been managed naturally, without any use of pesticides, fungicides, herbicides or chemical fertilisers. Soil fertilisation is managed through green manure, the mechanical burying of spontaneous grasses and by converting organic waste into compost. Zisola is a territorial project in which production activities are set within an area of strong identity and aim to offer an original and authentic interpretation of the various grape varieties found in this corner of Sicily.
