Castello di Volpaia

Giovannella, Nicolò and Federica: a family united by a deep bond with Volpaia, a perfectly preserved medieval village. The ancient cellars where our wines, certified organic since 2004, are made are still within the village walls, but year after year they are renewed with the most modern technologies. The vines, which reach 650 metres above sea level, grow on sandy soils derived from the erosion of the Macigno del Chianti: a unique terroir, capable of giving elegant wines with unmistakable aromas. Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, Volpaia is mentioned in Emanuele Repetti's Historical Dictionary of Tuscany, published in 1833, already in 1172 as a castle and “wine-bearing hills”.
Our production also extends to the Maremma, where we grow Vermentino at Castelprile, near Castiglione della Pescaia, and to Pantelleria, where our Passito Nika is born.
