Poggio Argentiera
Visita il sitoPoggio Argentiera was founded in 1997 with the purchase of the Adua farmstead, dating from the early 1900s, the period of the reclamation of the Maremma. On the original 6 hectares the production of Morellino di Scansano began; later a new winemaking cellar was built and in 2001 the property was enlarged with the purchase of another farmstead, located in the hilly area of Bacinello, in the municipality of Scansano. New plantings were added to the old, prized vineyards and today the estate counts 20 hectares of productive land within the Morellino DOCG. The Adua farmstead lies in the area adjacent to the Maremma nature park, opposite Marina di Alberese. The vineyards sit at an altitude level with the sea, which is just 5–6 km away. Here the soils are mainly sandy and silty, with little clay and little organic matter. The situation is quite different in the vineyards at Bacinello, which lie at a higher altitude, on the hills, in the municipality of Scansano. The natural gradient, the exposure and the extremely stony composition of the soil have made it possible, in this part of the estate, to create vineyards of extraordinary appeal and unique character.
