THE HISTORY The Fagnani wines are a selection by the family of the same name, who chose to invest in one of the most prized and distinctive areas of the Montalcino territory, where vines have been grown since 1765. Here, from 2006, Pierino Fagnani (known as Bagoga) began selecting the grapes that would make up his wines, creating a production under his own name. Today the winery is run in the cellar by his son Francesco Fagnani who, with the help of winemaker Giuseppe Gorelli, brings out the soul of their wines. The valuable experience gained over the years, the use of both established and innovative techniques and ideal territorial conditions guarantee products of extraordinary quality, with full and careful respect for the natural element. THE WINERY The family-owned vineyards cover around 6 hectares and enjoy a temperate microclimate with cool summers and harsh winters that contribute to the fullest expression of Sangiovese Grosso. The particular nature of the soil, too — soft, well aerated and receptive to heat — means the vine finds its ideal habitat here and allows wines of the highest quality to be produced. The Fagnani family decided to celebrate the labels of its wines with a project called 'artist labels'. The labels depict views of Montalcino and are signed by Daniele Cestari and Luca Greghi.
