Visita il sitoCantine Fina was born from the dream, the will, the desire of Bruno Fina and his wife Mariella to create a family business on one of the most evocative promontories of Marsala, overlooking the Egadi Islands and the Stagnone lagoon. It is 2005 when they manage to buy and build the winery and start production. In fact, already from 2002 Bruno was producing his wines, vinifying at rented wineries.
One must, however, start from Bruno Fina's experience as a young oenologist to better understand the reality of this company. In the early 1990s, Bruno took on the role of technical manager of the experimental micro-vinification cellar of the Sicilian Institute of the Vine and Wine, a state-affiliated body that deals with viticulture in Sicily. The role was conferred on him by Giacomo Tachis, one of Italy's greatest oenology experts, creator of Tignanello, Sassicaia and other great Italian wines, at the time already a consultant for the aforementioned body, who, at the head of a handful of young Sicilian oenologists and agronomists, experimented with the planting of new grape varieties until then unknown in Sicily. It is thanks to those studies that today Sicily produces Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and more... and it is thanks to the experience Bruno acquired in those years that today our wines stand out for their strong experimental and international character.
The idea of experimentation and internationality of viticulture in Sicily lies entirely in this reflection of his: “Sicily is a micro-continent with infinite morphological and pedoclimatic variables, therefore, even if in some cases for limited productions, it is possible to plant most of the known vine varieties.”
Today the winery is entirely managed by the three children of Bruno and Mariella: Marco as CEO, Sergio, oenologist alongside his father, and Federica, brand manager. They, together with their father, carry on this family dream that has become reality.
