Molettieri
Visita il sitoWinegrowers and producers of bulk wine for six generations, the Molettieri family founded Cantine Giovanni Molettieri in 1999 with the first bottling of wines produced from its own grapes in Montemarano, in the province of Avellino, a territory well known for the production of some iconic Italian wines including Taurasi DOCG, Fiano di Avellino DOCG and Greco di Tufo DOCG. The winery and vineyards are managed directly by Armando and Giovanni Molettieri, father and son respectively, with the support of expert collaborators including the oenologist Raffaele De Martino, who with great experience has defined a clear company identity intimately tied to the immense potential of its land and its traditions. Across the 22 hectares of specialised, owned vineyard, production is diversified among Greco, Fiano, Coda di Volpe, Falanghina and Aglianico. From this last grape, certainly the most important, comes — among others — Taurasi DOCG and some of its Riserve, but only in the best vintages. In total, production is based on 15 wine labels divided into three lines: the single-varietals, lighter-drinking vintage wines; the Classici d'Irpinia line, structured wines, most of which come from a series of company CRUs; and finally, from a hundred-year-old “ungrafted” (piede franco) vineyard, comes a special CRU, the “MATER”, produced only in the best vintages and a great pride of our production. To complete the offering, besides wine, part of the company's land is devoted to olive growing for the production of E.V.O. oil, for a total of 600 trees, some of them centuries old. Another part of the production has shifted its focus towards wine-based liqueur products, in particular an Aglianico amaro and an Aglianico infusion based on the traditional recipes of the Irpinia and Montemarano area.
