THE HISTORY. Sartarelli came into being as a winery in 1972, when Ferruccio decided to invest in his greatest passion, turning it into his greatest challenge: the production of quality Verdicchio wine. So began the courageous and inspiring story of the Sartarelli winery which, over time, has sought to uphold the grandfather's values: quality, expertise, determination and reliability. Today, alongside mother Donatella and father Patrizio are their children, each with specific skills and a deep love for this work: Caterina handles exports, while Tommaso is now a respected oenologist. The Sartarelli winery is one of the few Italian wineries to boast an exclusively single-varietal production, in this case Verdicchio. The estate lies within the municipality of Poggio San Marcello, in the magnificent hills of the Marche, 350 metres above sea level. With 55 hectares of vineyards and 6 hectares of olive groves comprising 2,300 trees, the Sartarelli winery sits on the left bank of the river Esino, the Classico area for the production of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi D.O.C. wine. In the vineyards, particular clones of Verdicchio of ancient origin have been selected, with the aim of producing a refined wine that, while retaining its varietal typicity, is able to release extraordinary aromatic nuances.
