The Rabissi farm was born in the second half of the 19th century with Pietro Rabissi, who farmed his lands with olive trees, vegetables and cereals to feed the family, the dairy cow and the donkey. In 1982 Giuseppino Rabissi, Pietro's grandson, decided to plant the first Sangiovese vineyard, still productive today, and to devote himself to the production and sale of grapes. The generations followed one another until, in 2009, Federico, an agricultural expert and oenologist, decided to take the company in hand and began to vinify the grapes and bottle the wine.
The estate is located in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, 8 km from Montalcino. It extends over 6 hectares of cultivated land, of which one and a half are vineyard, 3.5 olive grove and the rest woodland. The vineyard is divided into 3 plots: 2 face the Orcia river and yield full-bodied, structured wines, the other, near Castelnuovo, yields more balanced and complex wines. Federico continues to make wine in the same historic premises but looks to the future, beginning the design of a new winery, which will allow an increase in the number of bottles while maintaining the very high quality of his wines.
